Pastor Don Pletcher grew up in the Youngstown, Ohio area but he also has roots that tie him to Lima. His father grew up in Lima, and Pastor Don’s grandmother lived in Lima most of her life. Pastor Don graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, in 1974. His first call was to the two-point parish of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Recovery, and St. James Lutheran Church, Salamonia, Indiana where he served seven years. A letter of call from Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Ohio, to serve as associate pastor took Pastor Don to the Columbus area for eight years. In 1989 Pastor Don was called to St. John Lutheran Church, Cardington where he served until his retirement at the end of last summer. Pastor Don and his wife, Alida who is originally from Delphos, have two sons. William, the older son, is an assistant US attorney living in San Francisco. Their second son, James, is married to Caroline and they live in Hilliard. At the end of November James and Caroline made Pastor Don and Alida grandparents for the first time with the birth of William. Pastor Don and Alida enjoy gardening, reading and traveling, especially now to Hilliard where they can see how their grandson is growing.
